Tutorial is written for users with Windows 7 as to I don't use Windows 8 so, I haven't got the slightest idea whether my way will help you.

Hello Everyone,

I am a custo fiend that has a slight ocd of perfection and alignment. I like all colors whether they are flat or loud. The more diverse you let your eyes be, the stronger your creativity will be! Enough about me, it is time to talk about YOU**

Have you ever stumbled upon a Visual Style for Windows 7 that you wanted to use but could not push yourself to keep using it because of the fontface chosen by the original creator? (No hard feelings, everyone has their own tastes) Well, there is a way you can easily change the font face appended to the visual style (theme).

I will show you a way where you need not knowledge of coding but the simple skill of reading. Yes. However, there are 2 and only 2 additional programs/tools that you will have to obtain yourself to modify the original set font to the desired font of your choosing.

The 2 required programs are:
1. Restorator2007 (I use Restorator2009. It's pretty much the same. I just wanted an updated version)
2. Notepad++ (It's a notepad used for editing html/script based codes, i bet you will not uninstall*)

Step 1: Open up the vs folder that you will be modifying. Navigate to the vs's .mss file (It's always located inside the themes secondary folder.)

Step 2: Start Restorator and drag and drop the selected .mss file into restorator (If correct file was imported, you will see .msstyle after the vs's file name!)

Step 3: Select 'String' and expand. Drag and drop the file titled 'Neutral' onto your desktop.

Step 4: Open 'Neutral' with Notepad++.

I want you to take a look. Looks crazy? Don't be afraid. Examine this for a second since you will not be here for the last time on Notepad++. I will not explain much of this since you don't need to know any of those numbers really. But, if you are always striving to learn like myself, leave a comment and I'll take time to help you understand the program more. But, for now. My goal is just to enable you to modify the vs fontface.

Step 5: Hit Ctrl+F to bring up the Find windows. Navigate one tab over to the right. You should be on the 'Replace' tab now.

There are 2 lines titled 'Find What' & 'Replace With'. I want you to look at the right hand side's buttons:

Find Next

Replace

Replace All (DO NOT USE THIS FUNCTION WHEN MODIFYING FONT SIZE, YOU WILL ACCIDENTALLY MODIFY YOUR CRITERIA LINES ON THE VS' .MSSTYLE)

Replace All In All Opened Documents (DO NOT USE THIS, IT'S NOT FOR USE UNTIL ADVANCED MODIFYING USING MULTIPLE FONTS MODIFYING MULTIPLE VS AT ONCE)

Apologies. I don't mean to make you read more than needed. But, I liked you to be aware before you get curious and ruin something.

Step 6: Replace the current fonts used with your desired font. After doing so, Ctrl+S to save. Exit Notepad++. The .msstyle is now modified and ready to be used.

Step 7. Navigate back to your desktop, take the 'Neutral' file and drag n' drop back onto Restorator. Save in Restorator and close.

Step 8. You are done. The vs will now render the new font it's been modified under. Proceed to installing your VS. If you followed my instructions entirely verbatim. There will be no issues. Cheat the reading and cheat yourself of great knowledge I am sharing.

See? Easy Peasy! 'Til next time. :D (Big Grin) :juggle:

This is great stuff. I've been using VSB for issues like this and it's such a hassle to find and change every single one of them individually. Thanks for this!
